His relatives alleged foul play but did not lodge a specific complaint until reports last came in. The body was sent for autopsy.
Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar said they would be moving the high court seeking a CBI probe in the murder. Party supporters staged a road blockade, demanding proper police action.
Police refused comment. A police officer said: “An unnatural death case has been lodged. There are no specific complaints. There is one injury mark on the victim’s leg. A post-mortem examination is being conducted. Depending on the medical report, specific cases, if any, will be lodged.”
Local Trinamool leader Abhijit Das claimed Bera was last seen in an inebriated state on Saturday.
